Ultradeep Energy Presents Dual Gradient Drilling Research at SOCAR Proceedings

Ultradeep Energy’s research team published a scientific paper in the SOCAR Proceedings journal titled “Dual Gradient Drilling: A Key Technology for Efficient and Safe Well Construction.”

The publication presents the fundamentals and field validation of Dual Gradient Drilling (DGD) — a technology that uses two distinct fluid density systems to maintain an optimal pressure profile throughout the wellbore. The study highlights how DGD mitigates problems associated with narrow drilling margins, such as lost circulation and formation instability, which are common in deep and high-pressure/high-temperature (HPHT) wells.

The article further demonstrates how DGD allows for the reduction of casing strings, maintains larger borehole diameters, and minimizes environmental impact by cutting materials and fuel consumption. These findings confirm that Dual Gradient Drilling is a crucial step toward safer, faster, and lower-carbon well construction.
