UltraDeep Energy Science Article Published in Springer (Switzerland, Scopus): Redefining Well Design of Challenging Wells with DGD
Excited to share that our article “Dual Gradient Drilling Technology: An Effective Solution for Developing Challenging Wells in Eastern Siberia” after a thorough peer-review process and editorial verification has been published by Springer Nature (Switzerland) — one of the world’s top scientific publishers.
Drilling in Eastern Siberia is complicated by:
– Voids, fractures, and caverns causing severe losses and stuck pipe;
– Inert LCM additives used to prevent losses reduce well productivity;
– MPD with nitrogen injection has shown partial success.
We propose a more advanced solution: Dual Gradient Drilling Technology (DGDT) — which:
– Enables safe drilling through fragile formations without extra casing;
– Controls bottomhole pressure using nitrogen or light fluids;
– Improves cementing quality and increases borehole diameter at TD.
– Improves LWD/MWD signal transmission compare with MPD w/ nitrogen injection
